Always strive to exceed expectations by framing questions to best determine exactly what is expected in your work or personal situations. How many times have you embarked on what you thought was the perfect mission, to find out mid-way, that you've miss-interpreted your bosses' thoughts, or your spouses' mind set. If you're like any normal human, you will admit this has happened way too often. Stack your advantages by doing more than is expected. Deliver the results sooner, provide more depth & breadth, ask more positioning questions, have fun and exceed expectations.
Next time you're given an assignment ask the following;
- Who, what, where, when and how
- Purpose, tactics and review expectations
- Format, what defines success for this assignment
- Most important "Are there any other points or important information you want to share before I get started?"
- Always last-- when do you want this and reconfirm format, delivery and success
- Get after it NOW, don't wait until the weather changes, or you feel better. Nothing beats action.
As the wise and often quoted Chinese philosopher said, "People don't hear your voice...they watch your feet." Time to get busy, don't delay, because nothing beats action.
